Meet Becky
Pharmacist, Teacher & Coach
Becky is a former Division I soccer player for the University of Minnesota and a licensed pharmacist (PharmD). She is passionate about pharmacology, fitness/sports, teaching and building relationships. She plans to use these passions to empower and educate athletes to understand and effectively manage their medications - including supplements - to optimize their athletic performance and overall health.
While she never missed a college soccer game due to injury, Becky tore her ACL during her first year of pharmacy school while playing coed soccer with her husband. Between that experience, what she had been learning in school and her experiences as a coach, Becky created a research project with University of Minnesota student-athletes to demonstrate the need for a pharmacist on the healthcare team for athletes (see Research & Publications). From this project, Meraki was born!
Before earning her PharmD, Becky was a high-school Chemistry teacher and coach. She taught at Blaine High School for 4 years and Wayzata High School for 2 years. She has held various soccer coaching positions at Blaine and Wayzata High Schools for a combined 11 years, and was on the coaching staff when the Trojans won back-to-back state championships. She also coached lacrosse for 3 years while at Blaine High School.
She finished her college soccer career 11th all-time for points and 8th all-time for assists with the University of Minnesota Gophers.
In her free time, Becky enjoys spending time with her family, being outside, being active (playing soccer, running, biking, taking fitness classes, etc.) and serving at Arms of Love in Jinotepe, Nicaragua.
